Description for the group.

Preferred server to post articles for this group

Overrides the preferred newsserver for this group to post articles to.

Group type

Type of the group:
y Posting allowed
n No posting allowed.
m Moderated
g Gateway (news to mail)

If group type is set to "m" (moderated) and no mail address is given below, the group behaves like "y" (i. e. let remote servers do the "moderation" work).

Mail address

Mail address or local account name of moderator (Group type "m") or mailing list (Group type "g").

If a mail address is given for a group of type "m" (moderated), a posting for this group is sent by mail to the given address if it has no valid "Approved:" header.

If a mail address is given for a group of type "g" (gateway), a posting for this group is neither stored in the group nor posted to any remote newsserver, but sent by mail to the given address.

Note: Crosspostings will be rejected, if a posting is about to be sent by mail this way.
